Vault Comics is thrilled to announce THE MALL, a new comic book series co-written by Hollywood screenwriter Gary Dauberman & author Michael Moreci, with art by Zak Hartong, colors by Addison Duke, and letters by Jim Campbell.
MALL is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape where people are tribalized by the things they own and the brands they love. The shopping mall has turned into a civilization and the companies into tribes. People haven’t left the mall for as long as they can remember and it’s become all they know. After a tribal leader is assassinated, Andre Reed has to navigate the Mall’s mad gauntlet to prove his innocence, and prevent the end of the world, again!
"I couldn't be more excited to have VAULT release MALL,” said Dauberman. “Sometimes there are stories that just scream 'MAKE ME A COMIC!' and this was one of them. Working with partners like Emile Gladstone, Mike Moreci and Zak Hartong, along with Damian and Adrian at Vault, has elevated this story beyond my wildest expectations."
"What Gary and I are doing in MALL is the exact kind of story I love--fun, subversive, and thoroughly genre-driven,” said Moreci. “I'm thrilled to be working on this book and equally thrilled to be collaborating with someone as skilled as Gary is."
“MALL is madness at its finest,” says Adrian Wassel, Editor-In-Chief at Vault. “It’s a story about the end of the world…after the end of the world. It’s as though Gary and Mike reached into my brain, grabbed all my fond memories of The Warriors, Madmax, and John Carpenter’s opus, then mixed them into some terribly drinkable cocktail.”
In his directorial debut, Gary Dauberman is in post-production with Annabelle Comes Home, the next installment the Conjuring Universe, which will be released on June 28, 2019. He also wrote the script. Dauberman joined the creative team behind The Conjuring Universe when he wrote Annabelle (2014). He followed with Annabelle: Creation (2017) and The Nun (2018). He penned the screenplay adaptation of Stephen King’s It (2017) and the film’s sequel, It: Chapter 2, which is set for release on September 6, 2019.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the story with their exclusive article.

Here in the heartland of the U.S. of A., the world has ended! But worry not, because the mall still stands. And within the walls of this consumeristic mecca lies a new world order: box store tribes and name brand gangs, all vying for limited space and resources. So, actually…you can worry! Especially for poor Andre Reed, who—after the assassination of a tribal leader—has to navigate the mad haven to prove his innocence, and prevent the end of world, again!
